Holi, also known as Dhulheti, Dhulandi or Dhulendi, is the Festival of Colors.
Hiranyakashipu, the King of Demons, wanted everyone to worship him. Hiranyakashipu's son, Prahlada, worshiped Vishnu instead. Infuriated, Hiranyakashipu tried unsuccessfully to kill Prahlada but did not succeed. Finally, he asked his daughter Holika to help kill Prahlada. As Holika was immune to fire due to a special cloak, Hiranyakashipu ordered his son to sit on Holika's lap so that he would be burned to death. However, the cloak moved from Holika to Prahlada, which caused Holika to burn to death. This holiday celebrates the burning of Holika.
