When is Raksha Bandhan?

Raksha Bandhan, also known the bond of protection, is the celebration of the relationship between brothers and sisters.

Typically, on this day a sister ties a holy thread (rakhi) around her brother's wrist. The brother will then offer a gift to his sister, and affirms that he will protect her and help her through the hard times.
