Fathers Day was started by Mrs. John B. Dodd in 1910 as a tribute to all of the sacrifices her father made for his children. It took a decade, however, for this celebration to become a national holiday.
A bill was introduced on 1913. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge supported Father's Day. Finally, in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed Father's Day a nationally recognized holiday.
